Minimally Invasive Breast Reduction in Men
“THE LIGHT PULL-THROUGH PROCEDURE”
Many times patients state that they have a very minimal case of gynecomastia and feel that liposuction alone would solve their “man boobs” problem. Sometimes this is true, but not as often as you might think. In most cases there is some glandular excision needed as well to get the most natural looking result. The good news is, there is a procedure for this.Â
This is not a new breast reduction procedure for men. It is less invasive and can be done with an endoscope. It has been developed over many years and now has become more defined. The technique uses a lateral incision near the areola of 2-3 millimeters in size. Liposuction is then performed, which could be the standard liposuction (tumescent procedure), or the ultrasonic liposuction procedure. Through the small incision, a “pickle fork” type of instrument is inserted and the connecting fibers are cut above and below, freeing up the glandular tissue. The glandular tissue is then gently pulled through the small incision. The advantage of this procedure is minimal scarring, no drains, and less recovery time. “The Light Pull-Through Procedure” is not for every patient. This is best for mild to moderate gynecomastia with good-quality skin. The best way to determine if you might be a candidate for this procedure, would be to schedule a consultation with Dr. Delgado.
