Information For Out-Of-Town Gynecomastia Patients
In the search for a surgeon who specializes in gynecomastia, patients often have difficulty locating one close to home. While traveling for surgery is inconvenient, it is a small trade-off for finding the right surgeon who will deliver the best results. Bearing this in mind, Dr. Delgado has done everything possible to make the trip to his Northern California practice a pleasant and stress-free experience.
We have developed a very safe and effective program for our out-of-town patients. We guide the patient every step of the way, starting with a complimentary phone consultation with Dr. Delgado. For a phone consult, all we require is that the patient email photographs of both front and side views of the chest, along with contact information to our office at info@dr-delgado.com. Once we receive this, Dr. Delgado can then provide an accurate evaluation for the patient over the phone. He will discuss the pros and cons of your procedure, and then you will be emailed a price quote. If you decide that you want to proceed, you may then schedule surgery and we will send out a comprehensive information booklet containing pre-operative and post-operative instructions, along with a lab slip so that you can get your required blood test(s) done and approved before you travel.
In most cases, the patient will arrive one day before surgery. You will need to stay five to seven days following the procedure for the immediate post-operative care. It is important to pack very lightly so that the trip home is not strenuous. We require that someone stay with you the first night after surgery. For patients who do not have family or friends in the area, there is available lodging, transportation and aftercare to fit all budgets.
Our first choice for accommodations is the Best Western Novato Oaks Inn www.novatooaksinn.com, which is located just one mile south of our office. They offer free shuttle service to and from the office, as well as to and from the Marin Airporter, which for a nominal fee will provide round-trip transportation from San Francisco International Airport (SFO). The hotel also has an excellent restaurant with room service available.

In most cases, patients are able to return home five to seven days following surgery. We can use email for viewing postoperative photographs so that Dr. Delgado can monitor the patient's progress.
